Abstract: The essential importance of homoeostasis for survival of an organism is demonstrated an the basis of general observations. Control systems responsible for homoeostasis must be mutually adjusted, i.e. they must be intermeshed in the manner of a multiloop control system. The organism assigns different degrees of importance to the individual control elements, thus forming a system arranged in hierarchic order. Thermoregulation is an expression of metabolism and metabolic processes and hence a mediator between the human body and the human ego.
