Abstract: Enzyme therapy has been a part of empirical treatment. Meanwhile clinical studies show the efficacy in following diseases: Bronchitis, cystopyelitis, prostatitis and adnexitis. High dosis of enzymes at the very beginning will cure athletic injuries as well as oedema and swelling before and after surgery. Nowadays patients with autoaggressive diseases will take benefit of Wobenzym° and Wobe-Mugos° in combination like rheumatic arthritis, multiple sclerosis and colitis. Enzyme therapy leads to a balanced immune system (immune modulation) by cutting off pathogenic immune complexes. Some cells like macrophages and NK-cells will be stimulated, so patients suffering from tumors and viral diseases take advantages of this treatment.A close relationship between the doctor and his patient is necessary because only at the beginning of the therapy some symptoms of diseases will get higher like pain in rheumatism. Contraindications are: allergy against the enzymes (papain, bromelaine etc.), severe liver and kidney diseases and inborn errors of clotting system.Enzyme will be combined in many ways with empirical treatment as well as with allopathic medicamentation.
