Abstract: We studied the in vitro action of VIP( vasoactive intestinal peptide) and CGRP ( calcitonin gene-related peptide ) on the lymphoblastic transformation of splenic cells from female BALB/c mice aged 6-8 weeks. Thesc neuropeptides were used in the concentration rangc of 10-7 M to 10-18 M, i.e., approximatively 5 DH to 10 DH. Both neuropeptides inhibited the incorporation of tritiated thymidine of mouse splenic cells incubated in the presence of ConA or PHA but not in the presence of LPS in a dose-dependent manner in the range of 5 DH to 10 DH. These results were confirmed by a parallel decrease in IL 2 production by these peptide-treated mouse splenocytes incubated in the presence of ved with very low concentrations of the peptides. Using this neuropeptide-T lymphocyte model, it might be possible to analyze the phenomenon of the activity of very high dilutions.
