Self-monitoring inclinations and adolescent clients with chemical dependency

Abstract: Discusses initial normative data for the use of the Self-Monitoring Scale (SMS) for music therapists working with chemically dependent adolescents. 152 13-17 yr old clients with chemical dependency completed the SMS. Reliability estimates indicate that the SMS presents consistent results for this population. Significant differences were found between Ss' mean score and those previously reported for college students and adults with chemical dependency (M. R. James, 1986).
