A survey of treatment procedures in improvisational music therapy. Special Issue: Music therapy

Abstract: Describes major models of improvisational music therapy in terms of clinical applications, goals, session formats, media selection, and methodological procedures. Procedural steps or cycles that occur within a typical session in each model are discussed. Two prototypes for improvisational sessions are identified, and objectives found in most models of improvisational music therapy are summarized.
