The Identity of Music Therapy

Abstract: This paper discusses the identity of music therapy by defining music and therapy seperately, yet in relation to each other. Music is examined in a therapeutic context, and therapy in a musical context. This is further clarified in considering the four main methodologies in music: 1) Improvisational work 2) Receptive Movement. 3) Re-creative Movement. 4) Compositional Music Therapy
