Abstract: In a single-blind study the efficacy of a phytotherapeutic combination product for use in urology was studied in compar-ison with a phytotherapeutic monosub-stance.118 patients presenting with the follow-ing diagnoses were selected from the pa-tient population of two urological practi-ces: acute cystitis, chronic cystitis, chro-nic pyelonephritis and urolithic dia-thesis.75 patients received the combination product (group 1) and 43 patients were given the monosubstance (group 2). Al-together 74% of the patients of group 1 and 38% of the patients of group 2 found the treatment to have been successful. j Normalisation of the urinary sediment ~i findings and of the ESR were used as objective study parameters. In the treatment of acute cystitis both preparations achieved a healing rate of 100%. As to the remaining three clinical pictures, the combination product was seen to be superior throughout In chro-nic cystitis a cure was achieved in 84% (versus 38%), in chronic pyelonephritis in 64% (versus 25%), and in urolithic dia-thesis in 55% (versus 18%). In patients with multiple morbidity a success of treatment under the combination prod-uct was seen in 58% (versus 18%).The phytotherapeutic combination prod-uct proved to be superior both as a monotherapy and as adjuvant to an-tibiotics.
