Abstract: During an extreme endurance stress (1987 Germany run; 1000 km in 20 days) the anodyne ointment Vaxicum had been tested in 110 (start) and 55 (finish) runners.Upon inquiry the physicians valued the therapeutic success of Vaxicum to be, good ´to, very good ´in most of the cases; 12% of the runners inquired who judged the success to be satisfactory 'or bad' mostly suffered from strain or rupture of a muscle. 97% of the runners treated were satisfied with the effect.This generally positive judgement was above all due to the quick reduction in movement and pressure pains.
