Music Therapy with Schizophrenic Patients - Experiences and considerations

Abstract: The origins and essence of schizophrenic "ill-ness" are taken to be multifactorial. The author attempts, on the basis of the insights and results supplied by the various research approaches, to draw conclusions and suggest strategies for music therapy treatment of schizophrenics. The aspects discussed include somantics, communication theory, family dynamics and psychoanalysis. The author is concerned to integrate the various views in a holistic approach.
