Journal/Book: Music Therapy Perspectives. 1984; Silver Spring, Maryland, USA. National Association for Music Therapy 8455 Colesville Rd., Suite 930 20910 Silver Spring, Maryland USA. journal article.
Abstract: The interweaving of a behavioral therapy approach with a sequential program of musical development is presented as an effective method of intervention with elementary-age learning disabled children. The direction of intervention is determined in light of standardized test results by learning disability specialists and the assessment of the music therapist. Experiences in music are designed to motivate participation, as well as to elicit and consequate desired behavior. Examples are given of both individual and group procedures and coinciding music programs.
