Abstract: The author writes about visits to music therapists in Vienna, Austria and Munich, Germany. The general music therapy situation as well as the three year music therapy training course in Vienna is described. The author comments on visits to the three different practical placements that music therapy students in Vienna are sent on; a large psychiatric hospital, a psychosomatic unit and a child development centre. In Munich, the author visited a large child development centre and was impressed by the creative work of the music therapy, Gertrude Orff.
