Sull'ermeneutica della creativita quale comunicazione metacomunicazione. (Hermeneutics of creativity as communication and metacommunication.) |
Journal/Book: Rivista Sperimentale di Freniatria e Medicina Legale delle Alienazioni Mentali. 1983; 107: 292-304.
Abstract: Criticizes the contemporary tendency in psychiatry and psychology to confuse symbols and symptoms; to reduce expressions of creativity in the visual arts, music, and literature to prepsychotic or even psychotic expressions; and to regard autobiographical works, such as journals and correspondence, as vehicles for catharsis and self-therapy. These tendencies are considered in relation to the interactions of painter/diarist Edvard Munch and a psychiatrist who considered Munch's paintings to reflect a narcissistic psychosis. The application of psychiatric diagnostic techniques to artists and the denial of transcendental or metaphysical experiences as the sources of artistic work are also criticized. (33 ref)
Note: creativity in visual arts & music & literature & autobiographical works as symbols vs psychiatric symptoms
