Three Years of Therapeutic Piano |
Journal/Book: British Journal of Music Therapy. 1981; l2: Hertfordshire, UK. British Society for Music Therapy. 14-l6.
Abstract: The article demonstrates how the pianoforte has been an important therapeutic instrument for patients with limited intellectual capacity and those with psychological and emotional difficulties. Various styles of improvisation and development are described which were unique to that person, exressing their emotional needs at that time. Problems of classical keyboard skills are discussed and the 'piano-harp' is shown to offer an outlet for fierce emotion and quiet intimacy.
