Human Sensory Perception |
Journal/Book: Musiktherapeutische Umschau. 1980; 1: Stuttgart. G. Fischer Verlag. 203-218.
Abstract: In the first part, the author describes the historical development of the concepts of perception in the sciences and especially shows the conception of sensory perception as it has developed in the era since GALILEI and DESCARTES. In the second part, the present discussion is summarized and it is worked out that the experience of the qualities of objects through sensory perception are neither purely subjective nor purely objective, they are always connected with the acting ego and point to a non-ego. Here the concept of intentional relation, of the volitional effort is introduced. By integrating this performance of the ego into the act of perception, the experience of the qualities can be described in physiological terms, and man no longer remains unrelated to the world of the senses.
