On the basis of a total of 3 480 cases the influence of the weather on psychiatric patients was studied over a period of 3 years. Drug addicts (N=349) and depressive patients (N-947) are influenced by periods of hot winds as well as by a cold weather front. 843 more patients were questioned in a continuous study on the influence they attribute to changes of weather. Drug addicts (N=70) felt subject to changes of weather in 51% depressive patients (N=70) in 66%. With a rating scale containing 37 points the symptoms due to weather influences of the two groups of patients were compared. It appeared that drug addicts show a greater variety of symptoms than depressive patients. ___MH
