Summary Sixteen patients were examined for the effect of breathing 10% CO2 and 90% oxygen an "arterialized" blood pC02. After breathing the gas mixture for 10 minutes the rise in pCO2 was significant at the 5% level of confidence. Five minutes after the patients had stopped breathing the gas mixture the pC02 was essentially at the baseline level. schö
