Journal/Book: Brit. J. Anaesth. (1961) 33 555. 1961;
Abstract: From the Department of Anesthesiology College of Physicians and Surgeons Columbia University and the Anesthesiology Service The Presbyterian Hospital in the City of New York Supported by Grant No. RG 4717 of the United States Public Health Service SUMMARY Electromyography during general anaesthesia has a distinct sphere of usefulness particularly in conjunction with mechanically controlled ventilation. The integrated electromyogram is an extremely sensitive guide to changes in respiratory and tonic activity of the abdominal muscles. It constitutes an interesting adjunct to close observation of surgical patients in the operating room. ___MH
