Abstract: Introduction: Hydrotherapy may be defined as the application of water the most familiar and effectual vehicle for the transmission of cold and heat for therapeutic purposes. The three physical states of water ice liquid and vapor are being utilized for this purpose. Procedures which include ear nasal and vaginal douches inhalations of vapor lavage of the stomach oral applications of hot and cold water irrigations of the urethra and bladder enemas enteroclysis and proctoclysis should not be discussed within the realm of hydrotherapy. They constitute therapeutic technics in which water is used internally to a great extent. The therapeutic applications of hydrotherapy as a branch of physical medicine produce results by stimulating the body surface. They are probably the oldest and one of the most widespread methods of treatment. schö
