SUMMARY Non surgical diagnosis of early breast lesions is an impossibility with present orthodox methods. The earliest surgical diagnosis of breast cancer is generally inadequate. Various types of heat measuring devices are discussed with reference to their applications and possibilities of assistance in the pre-operative diagnosis of breast lesions. ___MH
