SUMMARY A study was made of the effect of the pyrogenic reaction as elicited by triple typhoid vaccine an the urinary excretion of sodium and potassium in 16 normal human subjects. No systematic change in the excretion of these ions was observed in febrile or afebrile subjects during either the early transient period of renal vasoconstriction or the late sustained period of renal hyperemia. A reduction in urine volume occurred during the vasoconstrictive phase in association with a decrement in glomerular filtration rate and the urine became more concentrated with respect to sodium and potassium ions. ___MH
