Journal/Book: Ärztezeitschrift für Naturheilverfahren. 1994; 35/4: 286-290.

Abstract: Periods of dearth and famine can, on the one had, be seen as results of reduced food production, i.e. attributed to climatic factors or regional catastrophes such as floods and volcanic eruptions; on the other had, they can also been understood as results of political confusion and wars. In the near future, ecological catastrophes like the reactor acciednet at Chernobyl may come to play a role in reduction of food productions and thus contribute to famines. A number of historical instances illustrate the role played by climatic changes and politiccal confusion is nuch catastrophes in the past. The invention of new methods of production is described as one solution. Another topic discussed is misuse of food distibution to a hungry populace as an instrument of power.
