Abstract: Describes how a clinical case presentation seminar, facilitated through nonverbal processing and a stone sculpting workshop, guided by a psychotherapist/artist, can provide an alternative supervision technique for psychotherapists from all mental health disciplines. Explored are countertransference (CT) issues and the development of emotional and cognitive resources that contribute to psychotherapeutic artistry. Central to this exploration are group processing of conflicts that arise in the transitional space as therapists work with patients. Issues discussed include the theoretical structure of a CT training group; the relationship of psychoaesthetics and interpretation; and theory, description, and processing of the stone carving workshop. The experiences of 2 participants are highlighted.

Note: stone sculpting workshop as countertransference training & supervisory technique; psychotherapists
