Abstract: In order to ensure and to quantify the immediate and longterm effects of the oxygen multiple-step therapy (O2MT) within the region of the regional nutritive perfusion the conditions of perfusion were directly assessed by means of the 133xenon clearance in 40 patients with metabolic diseases and diseases of the heart and the blood circulation.The data obtained by bilateral measurement over the m. tibialis anterior with ergometric exercise in three collectives of patients (I: diabetes mellitus type I, n = 10; II: diabetes mellitus type II, n = 15;III: angina pectoris syndrome and hypertension, n = 15) prior to, directly after 02MT as well as after 3 and 12 months clearly demonstrate the positive, persistent effect of the therapy.The control of the course of the therapy evidenced an obviously own dynamic of the perfusion which is specific for the respective disease:Whereas the diabetics of type II and patients with cardiovascular diseases showed an almost concordant increase of the perfusion immediately after the treatment the insulin dependent diabetics - after an interimistic reduction of the microcirculation - showed an increased but lasting (reactive) increases in the flow rate. Even 12 months after discontinuation of the primary treatment a moderate increase of the blood flow could be registered in each of the investigated collectives.
