Abstract: 1. According to the present state of science there s no higher risk of anaphylaxis for Procaine (trade-name novocaine) as compared to Lidocaine. For lidocaine as "extremely seldom".2. Because of being better regulated and considerably less toxic procaine should further be preferred in the neural therapy according to Huneke since here it does usually not depend an the swift onset effect and an the continuation of the effect as long as possible. On the contrary, these are often not desirable.3. Apart from the quality "effect of local anaesthesia" ester local anaesthetic agents of the type of procaine obviously exhibit a number of clinically important general effects in the sense of the endoanaesthesia according to Zipf which require a differentiation of the local anaesthetic agents according to other criteria than only the effects as local anaesthetic. The probable superiority of the chloroprocaine (Nesicaine) which is popular in the USA is discussed.
