Anwendung von Kallikrein in der Andrologie

Abstract: Kallikrein is used in the treatment of male fertility disorders, especially so-called idiopathic oligozoospermia, asthenozoospermia and after surgical or sclerosing therapy of varicocele orchipathy. This is based on the influence of kallikrein on spermatogenesis by activation of the Sertoli-cell system and accessory glands as well as on increase of sperm motility and spermatozoal outlet. As kallikrein is also a mediator of inflammation, silent accessory inflammations may therefore exacerbate, which may be treated effectively, however. Moreover, intratesticular inflammations that are otherwise not recognisable in the ejaculate may intensify and lead to reduced sperm quality. In such cases kallikrein may be a helpful diagnostic tool with respect to male fertility disorders.
