Ernährungstherapie bei chronischen Nierenerkrankungen - Erfahrungen mit Hayscher Trennkost

Journal/Book: Erfahrungsheilkunde. 1991; 10:

Abstract: Dependant an the stage of a disease, the supply with sodium chloride, fluid and protein is modified. It is known, that the potatoe-egg diet, the Swedish diet and the diet with the addition of alpha-keto acid are poor in protein. With the Hay's separation diet natural products are used, while denatured products are avoided. During the meals, food mainly containing concentrated protein is separated from food mainly containing concentrated carbohydrates. This improves digestion (proven in experiments). About 2/3 of the daily food should consist of mainly raw base-formers (salad, vegetables and fruits) which will cause a balanced acidbase metabolism. Supersaturation is, as many researches confirmed, the main cause of many severe diseases. Concentrated proteins and starch have to be clearly reduced, the supply should consist only of few calories. The food should be eaten slowly and undisturbed and chewed thoroughly. Between the different meals there should be an interval of 4 hours. The positive effect of the separation diet or a modification of the separation diet which is poor in protein and sodium chloride an patients suffering from kidney disease has been proven. In modern pathophysiology it is explained why the separation diet has a positive effect. A diet poor in protein reduces the adaptive giomerular hyperfiltration and therefore also reduces the progression of the glomeruloscierosis and as a result chronic kidney diseases occur less frequently.
