Abstract: 1) Herrn OMR Prof. Dr. med. habil. H. Jordan zum 70. Geburtstag gewidmet Zusammenfassung In dieser Übersicht wird das ubiquitär vorkommende Interstitium als Grundregulationssystem nach Pischinger am Beispiel der Haut vorgestellt. Struktur und Funktion der Teile dieses Systems werden beschrieben das den Sauerstoff- und Wasserhaushalt den Säure-Basen- und Elektrolythaushalt reguliert. Jüngste wissenschaftliche Erkenntnisse so die Entdeckung der Akupunkturpunkt-Morphologie durch Heine unterstreichen die ungewöhnliche Bedeutung dieses in allen Belastungsfällen primär durch Kompensation und Abwehr reagierende Basisregulationssystem. Ausführungen über Pathologie Diagnostik und Therapie beschließen den Beitrag. Summary In this survey the ubiquitous interstitium is presented by the example of the skin as a basic regulatory system according to Pischinger. Structure and function of the parts of this system are described controlling oxygen and water as well as acid-base and electrolyte balance. Latest scientific findings such as the detection of the morphology of acupunctural points by Heine underline the extraordinary importance of this basic regulatory system which in all cases of stress primarily reacts by compensation and defence. The contribution is concluded by statements on pathology diagnostics and therapy. ___MH
