Abstract: Osteopathy is based an manual medicine, founded in 1874 by the american MD Dr. Andrew Taylor Still (18281917) in Kirksville, Missouri. Osteopathic medicine is predicated an a philosophy of health, disease and health care. The key principles are the unit of the body, the capability of self-healing and the reciprocally interrelation of structure and function. The parietal, viszeral and craniosacral system are three complexly interdependent anatomical parts. Therapeutically osteopathic treatment is directed towards elimination of the osteopathic lesion and regaining of the tissue mobility in the context with skeletal, arthrodial, muscular, fascial, vascular, lymphatic and neural elements.
