Abstract: Individuals who experience mild head injury (MHI) sometimes develop postconcussion syndrome (PCS). However, some mildly head injured persons do not report these symptoms and some non-head-injured individuals do. For practical purposes, it would be beneficial to be able to accurately diagnose and differentiate any long term effects of MHI. The Short Category Test-Booklet Format, the Paced Auditory Serial-Addition Task-Revised, the Rey Auditory Verbal Learning Test, the Rey-Osterrieth Complex Figure Test, and the Symbol-Digit Modalities Test were evaluated for their ability to differentiate individuals within tither PCS symptom endorsement status or long term MHI status. Results fail to show significant differences between groups in either category with the exception of the SDMT at differentiating PCS status.
