Disciplinary delimitations - On the historic differentiation of special education and social pedagogics |
Journal/Book: Z Padagog. 2000; 46: Am Hauptbahnhof 10 Postfach 1120, W-6940 Weinheim, Germany. Verlag Julius Beltz. 175-192.
Abstract: The definition of the borderline between social pedagogics and special education has become increasingly more difficult. A historical excursion is meant to clarify the paradigmatic groundings of both disciplines during their constitutional phase within the context of the developments of the related professions. The author argues that, in the respective conceptual basis, social pedagogics aims rather at a mode of action, while special pedagogics aims at a specific group of clients.
