The reader's guide as an integrative writing experience |
Journal/Book: Teach Psychol. 2000; 27: 10 Industrial Ave, Mahwah, NJ 07430-2262, USA. Lawrence Erlbaum Assoc Inc. 130-132.
Abstract: In this article, I describe a project that helps students get an over-view of the literature on a topic in psychology and develop, a mechanism for conveying that view to others. A reader's guide outlines a topic; provides brief descriptions of major concepts and contributors; identifies ''hot topics''; annotates important related books and articles; and lists major journals, books, and Internet resources. In addition to providing conceptual overviews, reader's guides have been useful as study guides and as aids co teaching.
