Abstract: This article explores the development of Reversal Theory and its application to art practice with offenders under the supervision of the United Kingdom Probation Service. The subject of the study is a woman, convicted of cruelty to a child, with a possible diagnosis of Munchausen's Syndrome by Proxy. The original paper, which was the source of this article, was presented at the 10th International Reversal Theory Conference at The Windsor University, Ontario, Canada, in June 1999. It has been revised and extended with the support of Michael Apter, one of the originators of Reversal Theory.
