Dreijährige Erfahrungen und neue Erkenntnisse bezüglich einer bildgebenden Regulationsthermographie hoher Auflösung im Vergleich zu herkömmlichen Methoden |
Abstract: Medical thermography was founded by E. Schwamm and J. Reeh in the fifties, further developed together with their students and since 1967, it has been supplemented by standards developed by G. Eisen (low temperature stimulus combined with an evaluation program). Today, it is experiencing a considerable progress due to modern infrared camera systems. The advantages of the new technology include above all the high speed of building up images, nearly complete coverage of the body surface and the virtually unlimited EDP-related possibilities of high-contrast colour imaging and image measuring and processing.A short historical overview will be given and, more detailed, the technology of former instruments, the development of the method since the fifties and methodologies so far applied will be described and compared to material and methodology of the new technique and appropriate images will be shown. The examinations so far carried out by the author amounting to more than 650 examinations and including 6500 single pictures - show a dramatic increase in diagnostic information compared to previous methods and technologies. The high local resolution leads to improvement in particular in early detection of malignant processes and "precancerous stages", in finding foci and disturbing fields as defined by Huneke, latent inflammations, neurological disturbances, vertebragenous processes and numerous other segmental anatomical and segmental physiological indications of organic disorders. In particular the dorsal body zones neglected by the contact thermographs will be paid attention to. The shortcomings of previous mamma diagnostics using sounding, in particular contact methods will be discussed and compared to the new possibilities.Furthermore, the acute question whether statistical methods can be able to compensate deficiencies in the data material (above all a too low number of measuring points) will be discussed.
