Sudden hearing loss

Abstract: Patients with a sudden, usually dramatic decline in hearing usually require rapid diagnosis and treatment. Unfortunately, the treatment of this condition continues to be controversial and an exact etiology (cause) in most cases has been inconclusive. Nevertheless, physicians have reached a consensus regarding several broad principles, which are presented in this chapter.
