Ecstasy and designer drugs - New consumer habits and implications for prevention and treatment

Abstract: While the use of narcotic drugs is recurrent in most european countries, stimulating drugs are used more and more often. The increasing popularity of Ecstasy and Designer-Drugs is at the centre of this trend. Based on present research findings at the intersection of Clinical Psychology, Psychiatry and the Social Sciences we elaborate on modifying factors that influence the patterns of use leading to higher or loa er health risks. We draw consequences for preventative actions from this.
