Abstract: Meniere's disease is characterized by unpredictable spells of severe vertigo and fluctuations in hearing and tinnitus. In its severe form it can be disabling. While considerable effort has been made to understand this disease, the causes and mechanisms underlying Meniere's disease as well as its cure remain elusive. This chapter discusses the present status of our understanding of this disease, controversies in its diagnosis, and the multiple therapeutic modalities recruited in its treatment.
