How to explore worlds |
Journal/Book: Soziale Welt. 1999; 50: Annastrabe 7, D-37075 Gottingen, Germany. Verlag Otto Schwartz & Co. 473+.
Abstract: The paper draws the outline of a general sociology with strong orientation towards the empirical scientific approach based on the notion of 'Life-World'. The concept of 'Life-World' originates from Edmund Husserl and was further developed by Alfred Schutz and Thomas Luckmann. What I call 'sociological life-world analysis' implies the claim to re-construct the manifold perspectives of relevance from which human beings experience their world in social co-existence with others. For purposes of research, this means that sociologists interested in life-world analysis operate as (a kind of) ethnologists of their own society on the way towards another modernity.
