Abstract: In this article, I describe how to use an inexpensive instrument to create visual and auditory classroom demonstrations. The function generator is an instrument that Produces time-varying electrical signals of manipulable frequency, waveform, and amplitude. Sending these signals to a speaker or a light-emitting diode can demonstrate how specific characteristics of auditory or visual stimuli, respectively, relate to perceptual experiences.
