Abstract: Knowledge-based information structuring The increase of new and the inconsistence of present Information requires-also in the field of art-history-to think about new information management tools. Information can only be managed by structuring itself. After a short survey on the well known procedures to describe art-historical objects and their documentation a new holistic information-model is proposed based on object-oriented attributes,The art-historical objects themselves are the elements of this information-model. The taxonomy of the object-properties or object-attributes is derived from the production process of the art objects itself, According to the different views or intentions the quantity of attributs can be reduced to a reasonable amount using the principle of generic classes. The object-oriented attributation can be used very efficiently for all purposes of documentation from art-logistic til act-scientific analysis.
