Abstract: The present study explored the relationship of the California Psychological Inventory (CPI) 3-vector model of personality (Gough, 1987) and various aspects of religiosity and spirituality. A 2x2x3 multivariate analysis of variance design used dichotomized introversion-extroversion and norm-favoring-norm-doubting vectors with three levels of self-realization as independent variables. Various measures of religious and spiritual attributes were the dependent variables. Participants were 401 introductory psychology students. The results supported the notion that a link exists between self-realization and religiosity/spirituality. Individuals who were more self-realized possessed greater spiritual well-being and tended to have more intrinsic, committed, and consensual religious orientations as well as stronger religious commitment and more frequent spiritual experiences.
