Name seven words: Demonstrating the effects of knowledge on rate of retrieval

Abstract: A simple exercise designed to demonstrate how content knowledge facilitates the rate of retrieval of domain-specific information is described and validated. Music expert and novice class volunteers quickly name any 7 words that relate to music. Reliably, the experts complete the task more quickly. Students rated this demonstration as both educational and interesting.
