Humor and creativity - Possibilities and problems in studying humor

Abstract: The general effects of humor on decreasing tension and aggression are known (Singer, Mueller gr Donnerstein, Koys, Kuiper & Martin, and others). There is gathered tension, even aggression in a conflictogeneous statement. We made an effort to find the effects of humor on a conflictive statement of one of the actors in everyday Life situations. The subjects had to create humorous captions fat each situation. Since the characteristic strategy of creative individuals involves changing views, using a new approach and a new direction in solving a problem our sim was to obtain a response to the question whether high degree of creativity will be reflected in humorous solving of a conflictive situation, The manner used and problems in the creation of conflictive situations, conflictogeneous statements and quantification of the degree of humor in the responses are presented.
