Abstract: The impact of a structured humorous activity on the psychological wellbeing of older people in residential settings was assessed. Residents who participated in the humorous activity were found to have significantly reduced levels of anxiety, as measured by the General Health Questionnaire, and significantly reduced levels of anxiety and depression, as measured by the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale, when compared to residents who received no intervention.
