Abstract: The scientific-theoretical validity fields of empiric-nomological and hermeneutic-idiographical attempts are discussed in regard to humanistic sciences in particular to Client Centred-Therapy. The special thing about Client Centred-Therapy consists in the hermeneutical task which uses empathic understanding to increase self-understanding in the patient. In this case, it is necessary to indicate the problems of this task, because the understanding efforts of the therapist might be either too much in advance of the patients' self-understanding or stay behind it. The criterion for this is the fundamental aim of client-centred-therapeutical understanding task to enable the patient to emancipate himself from the urge to follow inner compulsions and inscrutable norms.
