With enough cases, why do you need statistics? Revisiting Kinsey's methodology

Abstract: The 50th anniversary of Kinsey's Sexual Behavior in the Human Male provides nit opportunity for a reexamination of Kinsey's methodology. I start with a discussion of Kinsey's approach to science and move on to his research question, his sampling method and rite composition of the sample. Next, I address questionnaire design, interviewer training, and interviewing, allowing for a comparison of Kinsey's methodology, with more conventional approaches. I confine the discussion of data reduction and analysis to issues of gender and sexual identity ns these provide good illustrations of Kinsey's approach. Finally, I address Kinsey's long-term influence.
