Abstract: The scientific discipline of neuropsychology is concerned with the neuronal basis of behaviour. Methods for the investigation of brain-behaviour relationships include both the study of cognitive and non-cognitive changes after brain damage and the study of physiological changes in the normal brain that are induced by specific types and features of information processing. This paper discusses the contribution of neuropsychological findings to the understanding and explanation of phenomena in general psychology on the basis of examples from perception, emotion, memory, learning and attention.
