Laing and Heidegger on alienation |
Journal/Book: J Hum Psychol. 1998; 38: 2455 Teller Rd, Thousand Oaks, CA 91320. Sage Publications Inc. 80-93.
Abstract: R. D. Laing's concept of alienation-evidenced in his theory of ''true'' and ''false'' guilt, social fantasy systems, and artistic creativity-is discussed in light of the ideas of alienation and authenticity in Hegel, Marx, and Heidegger. Despite a tendency to polemical excess, there is much in Laing's approach that merits further exploration and discussion.
