Abstract: A metatheoretical discussion of the epistemology and the understanding of music in GIM, as presented in Odd Skårberg's article "Music therapy as aesthetic practice". Argues that GIM is a non-directive, narrative, but non-interpretive music therapy practice form, thus a phenomenological alternative to the hermenutic practice suggested by Skårberg.
