Abstract: In the present article, a new summation parameter for the interpretation of microbiological stool examinations - the intestinal ecological balance - is presented. This parameter is intended to provide therapeutists during their work with complex microbiological fecal flora findings with an instrument, which makes an overall assessment of the intestinal microecology possible and which leads away from the fixed view of individual germ species.The suitability of this new parameter for the interpretation and evaluation of fecal flora findings has been checked in a practice-oriented study. Special attention was directed to the registration of changes in the intestinal ecological balance when the therapy has begun.
