Therapeutische Aspekte der 5-Lipoxygenasehemmung (5-LOI)durch Boswellia-Säuren aus dem Harz des indischen Weihrauchbaumes Boswellia serrata

Abstract: Boswellia acids, the biologically active ingredients of the gum resin of Boswellia serrata (in India: Sallai guggal), have been shown to be specific, nonredox and non-competitive inhibitors of 5-lipoxygenase, the key enzyme of leukotriene biosynthesis. The new specific inhibitors give the opportunity to elucidate the role of these metabolites in physiologic and pathophysiologic processes in arachidonic acid metabolism.
